			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><br /><p>In the text-books of mineralogy, minerals are usually classed according to their chemical compo­sition and atomic structure. The plates in this book are arranged in such a way that minerals with a common mode of origin are grouped together. They are thus grouped in the first place, according to origin, into igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic minerals. Minerals which are closely related chemically, or whose atomic structure is very much alike, are often shown in quite different parts of the book, and some of the minerals appear more than once. This arrangement is intended to bring out the fact that no mineral is ever formed in isolation, and that the association of certain mineral species is governed by physical and chemical laws.</p>
